Bajaj Auto plans to launch its electric scooters by June from the company’s Akurdi plant in Pune, according to their executive director Rakesh Sharma.
They plan to invest *300 crores there. “The e-auto rickshaws would be manufactured at the Aurangabad plant,” he said. In a month or two, the company will apply for certification of e-autorickshaws.
The site is the same one that used to be home to the original ‘Humara Bajaj’ Chetak. It will now function as a standalone factory for Bajaj’s upcoming EVs.
Also, KTM AG of Austria, a sports bike manufacturer, is looking into manufacturing high-performance EV motorcycles in cooperation with the company.
In addition, Bajaj auto has teamed up with Britain’s Triumph Motorcycle to make affordable mid-capacity bikes for the Indian market.
According to Sharma, auto manufacturers are expected to contend with the chip issue for the six-nine months.
With the government planning to add another 800 CNG stations this year, CNG stations will now reach 3,500. Bajaj Auto, which already has a 75% share of the CNG three-wheeler market, will also benefit from this development.
This (CNG) is suitable for the environment and Bajaj Auto, as this is the company’s core competency. Within the next 12-18 months, the company plans to expand into newer export markets, such as Europe and Brazil.
